Pickwick Pines Marina

On November 21, 2006, the Tennessee Valley Authority issued a final supplemental environmental assessment (EA) and a finding of no significant impact for the Pickwick Pines Marina project. The proposed marina requires a TVA Section 26a permit and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Section 404 and Section 10 permits. TVA issued the Section 26a permit on November 29, 2006.

The proposed Pickwick Pines Marina would be located at Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway mile 448.4R in the Yellow Creek Embayment of Pickwick Reservoir in Tishomingo County, Mississippi. The use of the site for commercial resort development was approved by TVA in June 2001 and was the subject of a final EA issued by TVA in December 2000.

The Pickwick Pines Marina supplemental EA assesses the impacts of the marina development as described in an amended joint permit application submitted to TVA and the Corps on February 1, 2006. This amended application incorporates changes made in response to public and agency comments on the original application, submitted on September 15, 2005.

The project components include harbor limits, 228 boat slips, a dolphin, a fuel dock and pump-out facility, shoreline riprap and a retaining wall, a boat ramp and bulkhead, a dry stack storage building and dock, and approximately 3,000 cubic yards of reservoir dredging to accommodate the marina construction.

The supplemental EA was jointly prepared by TVA and the Corps. A draft of it was issued for public and interagency review on June 14, 2006. TVA received numerous comments on the draft EA and these comments are addressed in the final EA.
