ORNL Primary 161-kV Substation and Transmission Line ConnectionsRoane and Anderson Counties, Tennessee The Department of Energy has contracted the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to design and construct new electric power transmission and distribution facilities and a new substation at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Roane and Anderson Counties, Tennessee. These upgrades are needed to ensure the delivery of adequate amounts of reliable electric power to the Laboratory. Specifically, the upgrades would consist of a new substation that would connect to TVA’s Fort Loudoun-Spallation Neutron Source 161-kV Transmission Line and the installation of approximately 7 miles of new 13-kV power distribution lines along 4 miles of new right of way.
