Replacement of Structure 7 - Kentucky Hydroelectric Plant-Gilbertsville 69-kV Transmission Line, Kentucky Dam Reservation
Livingston County, Kentucky
On June 15, 2010, TVA issued an environmental assessment and finding of no significant impact for its proposal to replace Structure 7 on the Kentucky Hydroelectric Plant-Gilbertsville 69-kV Transmission Line, which is located on the Kentucky Dam Reservation. Structure 7 is a single wooden pole that was installed in 1944. This structure has been damaged by birds and recent weather events and is subject to failure, which would cause excessive and unsafe sag in the transmission line and compromise the reliability of adjacent transmission lines. To reduce the potential for adverse environmental effects TVA would utilize low ground-pressure tracked equipment to remove and replace the existing wooden pole with a new metal pole of similar height. This replacement would allow TVA to provide a reliable power supply to Gilbertsville and Benton City, Kentucky.
