Five Points-Homewood 161-kV Transmission LineScott County, Mississippi To deliver a reliable source of power to central Mississippi, the Tennessee Valley Authority proposes to construct a new 161-kilovolt (kV) transmission line that would interconnect the TVA transmission system with the Southern Mississippi Electric Power Association (SMEPA). This new line would consist of two sections. The first section, about six miles long, would be built on new right-of-way. It would run from the Five Points Substation to a point near Lake, Mississippi. The second section would extend from this point for 11 miles to SMEPA’s Homewood Substation. This second segment would be built on SMEPA’s right-of-way now occupied by a 69-kV transmission line. TVA proposes to construct a new 161-kV transmission line on this right-of-way and rebuild the 69-kV line using shared structures. TVA has prepared a final environmental assessment (FEA) which considered the impacts of the no action alternative and the proposed action alternative, and issued a finding of no significant impact (FONSI).
