Gallatin Fossil Plant – Installation of Air Pollution Control Equipment and Associated Facilities

Sumner County, Tennessee

In order to meet the new Mercury and Air Toxics Standards and to comply with the April 2011 Federal Facilities Compliance Agreement between the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency and TVA, TVA proposes to construct and operate flue gas desulfurization, selective catalytic reduction, and activated carbon injection systems, and a dry coal combustion product landfill at the Gallatin plant.  As required by the National Environmental Policy Act, TVA has developed a draft environmental assessment (EA) for this action and is soliciting comments from other agencies, the general public, nongovernmental organizations, and Native American tribes on the environmental impacts of the project. The draft EA is available at the links below and at the Gallatin Public Library in Gallatin, Tennessee. 

The draft EA was issued for public review and comment on October 17, 2012.  At the request of individuals and organizations interested in the project, the comment period was extended by two weeks and closed November 30.  TVA is presently reviewing the comments and preparing the final EA, which will include responses to the comments.
