Eagles Landing Golf Course Expansion, Phase 2, Gists Creek
Sevier County, Tennessee
On January 16, 2009, TVA issued a finding of no significant impact (FONSI) in association with the expansion of the Eagles Landing Golf Course (ELGC) in Sevierville, Sevier County, Tennessee. The Sevierville Public Building Authority (SPBA) proposes to realign a portion of Old Knoxville Highway (OKH) and expand ELGC.
The relocation of 1,845 feet of Gists Creek, encapsulation of 35 linear feet of an unnamed tributary to the Little Pigeon River, and replacement of a culvert on Gists Creek associated with OKH improvements require approval by TVA under Section 26a of the TVA Act. The relocation of an unnamed tributary to the Little Pigeon River, encapsulation of an unnamed tributary to Gists Creek, and elimination of several wetlands associated with the ELGC expansion also require approval by TVA under Section 26a of the TVA Act. In addition, the associated actions from the proposed construction require approval by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act. TVA was a cooperating agency and adopted an environmental assessment (EA) of the proposed construction issued by USACE on December 5, 2008. The EA and FONSI are presented below.
