New Transmission Line to Coldwater Substation
Mt. Pleasant, Marshall County, Mississippi
On August 6, 2007, TVA issued a final environmental assessment and finding of no significant impact for a proposed 5.6-mile, 161-kV transmission line connecting the new Coldwater Substation built by Holly Springs Utility Department (HSUD) to TVA’s existing Holly Springs-Miller 161-kV transmission line. The new substation and associated TVA transmission line are designed to increase reliability and reduce overloading problems on HSUD’s system in the Mt. Pleasant area of Marshall County, Mississippi.
TVA has reviewed the public comments regarding the proposal and evaluated the environmental data on alternative routes for the transmission line. Based on this, TVA has selected a modified Route 1 alternative as the preferred route.
