Cherokee Reservoir Land Management Plan and Environmental Assessment
On July 18, 2001, the TVA Board of Directors approved the adoption of the preferred alternative (Alternative B, the Allocation Alternative) for the Cherokee Reservoir Land Management Plan. The adopted plan covers 8,187 acres of TVA lands in 149 parcels. Slightly over half of this land (4,203 acres) remains committed to specific uses which were not changed. The remaining 3,984 acres were allocated to specific uses including natural resource conservation and management, TVA project operations and public works; recreation, and residential access.
Alternative land management plans for Cherokee Reservoir were evaluated in a Draft Plan and Environmental Assessment (EA) issued for public review and comment in April 2001. The Final Plan and EA was issued in July 2001; it includes the comments TVA received on the Draft, as well as TVA’s responses to the comments. TVA issued a Finding of No Significant Impact on the proposed Land Management Plan on June 22, 2001.
