Transmission Line Tap to New BGMU Substation
Warren County, Kentucky
On December 20, 2006, TVA issued a final environmental assessment (EA) and finding of no significant impact for its proposed East Bowling Green-South Scottsville 161-kV transmission line tap to the North Mill Substation.
This six-mile long transmission line would connect the North Mill Substation being built by Bowling Green Municipal Utilities (BGMU) to the TVA transmission system. Approximately half of the line would be constructed on the right-of-way of an existing Warren Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation line. The line would deliver additional power to the BGMU distribution system and would help increase the reliability of that system.
The final EA examines the potential environmental effects of constructing and operating the proposed transmission line, as well as those anticipated under the no-action alternative. TVA issued a draft of the EA for public comment in late October 2006. The final EA incorporates comments received on the draft and provides responses to them.
