US 43 Bridge Replacement - Bear CreekMarion County, Alabama The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) proposes to replace the existing bridge on U.S. Highway 43/State Route 17 (US 43) over Bear Creek and widen US 43 from a two-lane to a divided four-lane roadway for approximately one mile on each side of the bridge. ALDOT has requested that TVA grant Section 26a approval for the bridge replacement across Bear Creek and four other stream crossings; two unnamed tributaries to Nix Branch; an unnamed drain to Nix Branch, and Hill Spring Branch. In response, TVA has reviewed the 2001 Federal Highway Administration Environmental Assessment (EA) and 2003 Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for Project BR 392(6) SR 17 Bridge Replacement over Bear Creek in Marion County and Section 26a application and independently evaluated the potential environmental impacts. TVA has adopted the FWHA/ALDOT EA and on June 20, 2005 issued a Finding of No Significant Impact for the issuance of the Section 26a approval. DocumentsPDF files require Adobe Acrobat Reader.
