Tennessee Valley Authority Chattanooga Office Space Alternatives

Hamilton County, Tennessee

On April 2, 2007, TVA issued a final environmental assessment and finding of no significant impact for its proposal to lease or purchase approximately 600,000 square feet of office space in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to be fully occupied by January 1, 2011.

TVA must decide whether to renew the lease on its currently occupied office space in downtown Chattanooga or to acquire suitable replacement office space. Alternatives for acquiring the office space include renewing the lease, leasing appropriate existing space elsewhere in Chattanooga, contracting for the construction of new office space on TVA property on the Chickamauga Dam Reservation, and contracting for the construction of new office space on non-TVA property in Chattanooga.

At this time, TVA is giving consideration to all four alternatives since discussions with respondents to TVA’s Request for Proposals are ongoing, and the outcome of those discussions will affect TVA’s final decision.

A draft of the environmental assessment was circulated for public comment in March 2007. Comments received on this draft have been addressed in the final environmental assessment.
