Live Well
Where can you make a long-lasting difference in your life—for life? TVA’s Live Well program.
The Live Well program has been recognized by the Wellness Councils of America as a Gold Level achiever, one of the highest levels given to companies that show a commitment to the overall health and well-being of their employees and retirees and their families. It’s a comprehensive wellness program that encourages the reduction of health-risk behaviors, fosters healthy lifestyles, and contributes to the management of health-care costs. These are a few of its services:
Fitness centers
There are 37 onsite centers at TVA facilities throughout the Valley. An off-site reimbursement program is available for employees at other locations.
Fitness testing
Five areas of physical fitness are evaluated: body composition, aerobic capacity, flexibility, muscular endurance, and upper body strength.
Personalized exercise plan
Using fitness test results, a plan can be developed for overall improvement.
Health Risk Screenings
HealthCheck is TVA’s incentive program where employees can earn up to $200 in Benefit Credits by participating in a screening process that includes a lipid profile, blood pressure, height and weight, percent body fat, and waist measurement.
Other Screenings (available for anyone who is eligible to use Live Well) include cholesterol, blood pressure, and resting metabolic rate (there is a $15 charge for resting metabolic rate).
Educational materials
Health information is provided through handouts, e-mails, pamphlets, videos, self-help kits, and more.
Tobacco cessation (see Employee Benefits)
Reimbursement is available for employees who use approved, tobacco cessation aids.
Weight Management
Classes are held periodically to help employees make healthy lifestyle choices in order to lose weight and reduce their risk for disease.
Lunch and Learn programs (provided by Employee Benefits)
Timely health-related topics are presented during lunchtimes.
