Habitat for Humanity
A TVA Signature Project
TVA, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, is building five Habitat homes in the Tennessee Valley, all certified Energy Star or EcoBUILD. Deserving families in Memphis, Nashville, Knoxville, and the Muscle Shoals, Alabama area will all receive homes following the Spring 2008 builds. The theme is “Building the Dream” to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Area TVA employees, retirees, customers, and other community partners are being asked to participate.
Additional Information
On four homes, TVA is covering the sponsorship cost and supporting expenses, including water, food, signage, etc., throughout the build, plus a housewarming gift for each family. TVA Customer Resources will coordinate making the homes Energy Star or EcoBUILD.
The fifth house is being built in partnership with students as the University of North Alabama, who allied for and a received a federal grant to install photovoltaic panels on the home to help generate electricity.
Build Schedule
Actual building will begin on various dates depending on location.
Knoxville, TN
March 1 – April 19; build is in South Knoxville at 2934 Old Maryville Pike
Memphis, TN
March 14 – May 10; address to be announced
Nashville, TN
March 15 – April 13; House # 9, Tiger Circle, North Nashville, Timberwood subdivision (off Brick Church Pike and Briley Parkway)
Muscle Shoals, AL
